The tournament will be held at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, PA.
Participating schools will register students in up to six flights:
Competitive Flight Schedule:
There
will be only 2 archers in each lane per flight, one each from different
schools. If your archers share bows, these archers must register for
different flight times, with the exception that 2 archers may share a
bow during flights #1, #3 and #5. SEE - (RANGE SET-UP)
Flight #1 – 8:45 am - 9:45 am, Flight #2
– 9:55 am - 10:55 am, Flight #3 - 11:05 am - 12:05, Flight #4 - 12:15 pm
- 1:15 pm, Flight #5 - 1:25 pm - 2:25 pm,
flight #6 - 2:35 pm - 3:35 pm
Awards - 4:15 PM
Shooters must be at their lanes ten, (10), minutes before the assigned
flight times above. To meet this line-up
time requirement, school teams should arrive at the tournament
registration desk at least one hour before their shooting
time. Parking is available on the complex’s parking lot.
WHAT
-
This tournament is the annual "culminating event" for schools participating in the NASP in Pennsylvania.
-
Team members must come from a single school, not a school district or multiple schools.
-
Teams or individuals will register in either the Elementary (4-6 grade), Middle (7-8 grade) or High School (9-12 grade) Division. A student in a lower grade may shoot for a team in his or her school district that is in a higher Division but not vice versa.

Divisions
are determined by grade, as some schools have four or more grades.
Example: A High School with 8th, through 12th grade. The students in
8th grade would shoot in the middle School Division or in the High
School Division.

The students in
8th grade would shoot in the Middle School Division or in the High
School Division.
-
All
students will shoot for grade medals. Three grade medals, (grades
4th through 12th only), for each
gender.
-
Schools that are
combined, (Middle / High school, Junior-Senior High School), are
permitted to register a team / teams in each division, provided
that the team / teams are within the respective division format.
-
Schools with less than one hundred, (100), students total in all
grades, are permitted to join with another NASP School within their
School District.
-
Elementary School Basic Archery Instructors and School Principle, (combined), are permitted
to, (sign-off, write a letter), granting permission for 2nd and 3rd grade
students, (BY NAME), to shoot on the Elementary School team. NO GRADE MEDALS
WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE STUDENTS! The letter is required to be given
to the tournament director, prior to competing!
TEAM
Team competition will be among schools with at least
10 archers,
including three
students of the opposite gender.
A team shall consist of
10 to 24 archers and the highest
10 scores, (with at least one third , (1/3), of the team
scores, being from the opposite gender), shall constitute the team score.

Schools
may field as many teams in their division as they want.
-
Each School
fielding two or more teams, (2), within a Division, is required to have one,
(1), team of 16, with four, (4), of the opposite gender.

3, 12 to 24 = 4)
INDIVIDUAL
-
Individual students
may share a bow with another student on an adjacent lane, by
shooting their arrows and then passing the bow to the student in the
adjacent lane for that student to shoot their arrows.

A BOW MAY ONLY BE SHARED ON FLIGHTS #1, #3 AND #5, BETWEEN TWO
STUDENTS!
-
Two
students sharing a bow, would be indicated by having the same number
after their name. such as: 1-1, 2-2, 3-3 ect, ect and would be
assigned the same flight.

Students not on a team are shooting for grade medals.
-
No
limit on the number of students from a school, competing for grade
medals.
REGISTRATION:

Registration for the 2011 NASP tournament begins on
December 1, 2010.
We will Only able to accommodate 160
shooters on each flight.

The
registration fee is $15/student
payable ,
(in advance),
by check.

Registration fee and form are due not later than March 12, 2011.

Registration
form is as follows: SCHOOL, DIVISION, FLIGHT, STUDENT NAME, GENDER, GRADE, BOW
SHARING NUMBER, (TWO STUDENTS MAY SHARE THE SAME BOW ON FLIGHTS #1,
#3 AND #5)

Register in as many flights as needed to accommodate your students.
-
Each
flight must have a completed registration form.
-
Lane
and target assignments will be emailed to the school contact person.
-
EACH FLIGHT WILL ONLY HAVE TWO SHOOTERS ASSIGNED TO EACH LANE. THEY
WILL SHOOT, SCORE AND PULL ARROWS, RETURN TO THE WAITING LINE AND
REPEAT THE PROCESS UNTIL THE FLIGHT IS COMPLETED.
Each school is asked to provide 1 judge for every 12 competitors. Judges need
not have prior experience.
FORMAT
Qualified Equipment:
-
Only NASP Genesis compound bow (target colors or camouflage) may be
used. Schools must supply their own bows, arrows, and floor
quivers.
(Camouflage bows must have the face area of the riser, either
blacked out or taped over)
-
The
"Mini Genesis or Genesis Pro" may NOT be used.
-
Only Easton full-length, (thirty inch, 30"), 1820 aluminum arrows may be used.
-
Schools must
provide their own Easton full-length 1820 Aluminum Arrows, which
must be marked to prevent scoring confusion. Please see
“Frequently Asked Questions” for more information.
-
Only plastic vanes ,
(2.8 / 3.0 inches in length), are permitted.
-
No sights, tape, marks, or other modifications to the bow that may,
in the opinion of the judges be used as a sighting aid or draw stop.
Any marks or tape placed on the riser, above the grip of the bow, must be removed or the bow will be disqualified. If such a bow is
used during the tournament, the archer will be disqualified.
If a bow is numbered or otherwise identified by the school or
shooter with tape, such markings must be on the bow limbs or below
the bow’s grip.

Finger tabs, gloves, and armguards may be used.
-
Bow,
wrist or finger slings may be used! Wrist slings may be attached
using the stock bolt that comes with the strap. The bolt must be
made of steel or plastic and must protrude one inch or less beyond
the bow's accessory hole.
-
Only the
original equipment arrow rest is permitted!
-
"Tie-on nock sets or the Heat shrink" nock set, are the only nock
sets permitted!
-
THE METAL NOCK SET IS PROHIBITED!
-
The use of mechanical release aids, stabilizers and aiming devices
of any type, is prohibited.
-
Sims vibration dampening devices may be attached to the limbs of the
bow but not on the riser.
Range
Set-Up:
-
Targets will be 80 cm FITA face with 10 scoring rings.
-
Target line will be approximately 6 feet from the target arrow stops.
-
Shooting will be 10 and 15 meter shooting lines. (distances)
-
The waiting line will be 12 feet behind the 15 meter shooting line.
-
Each shooting lane
will have two, (2), archers.
-
TWO ARCHERS MAY SHARE THE SAME BOW
during Flights #1, #3 and #5
-
Students sharing a bow will be shooting adjacent targets.
-
Archers are assigned shooting lane positions as follows: A or B
-
FACING THE TARGETS,
ARCHER "A" will be on the
"LEFT"
side of all lanes and ARCHERS "B" will be on the
"RIGHT"
side
of all lanes, for those sharing a bow.
-
Students will be assigned a Lane and TARGET!
-
Two
students sharing a bow, will be on adjacent lanes.
Competition Format
-
Each archer will shoot 1 practice end of 5 arrows at 10 meters.
-
Each archer will shoot 3 ends of 5 arrows (total of 15 shots) at 10
meters.
-
Each archer will shoot 1 practice end of 5 arrows at 15 meters.
-
Each archer will shoot 3 ends of 5 arrows (total of 15 shots) at 15
meters.
-
Whistle or buzzer commands will be in effect.
Scoring
-
Middle School and High School students
may be asked to
call and score their
own arrows.
-
Adults
may
be
assigned to call arrows for the students.
-
Elementary students will have an adult caller and two adult scorers.
-
Each
archer will have two, (2), score cards. (Double scoring)
-
Each archer
must record the score on both score cards.
-
The score cards must be completed by the students with both score
keepers initials and the shooter’s initials.
-
Students will take their score cards, (2), to the scoring table at
the completion of the round. One score card will be returned to the
student, who will give it to their coach.
-
The
coach will fill out the team score card, (2 for each team), and
submit them to the scoring table. After score is verified, one will be returned
to the coach.
-
Scores are
listed on the score cards from
the center of the target out, (highest scoring arrow first), 10, 9,
8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, with a line in the box for a miss.
-
Arrows touching or cutting a scoring ring line will be given the
higher score.
-
Should an archer shoot more than five, (5), arrows in a target, per
end, the highest scoring arrow / arrows over five, (5), will be
pulled before scoring.
-
Judges will inspect equipment for compliance before shooting begins.
-
Judges will score disputed arrows (when called upon by adult or
student scorers).
-
Judges will make certain archers and scorers sign the score card before
leaving the range.
-
Judges will escort archers
to the appropriate lanes who need to re-shoot bounce-outs.
-
Arrows must be travel 10 feet to be considered shot.
-
Schools will provide arrows for bounce-outs and dropped arrows.
AWARDS
-
Team awards will be presented for the first, second, and third highest scoring teams in the Elementary (4-6), Middle (7-8) and High School (9-12) Divisions.
-
Team scores will be the sum of the 9 highest scores shot by archers from each school in each division during the tournament,
with at least one third, (1/3), of the team scores that are counted, will be from the opposite gender.
-
Individual awards, (medals), will be presented to the top three boys and
girls in each grade of the three Divisions.
TIE BREAK FORMAT
1. The first tie breaker is the
15 meter score, for both individual and team.
2 The second tie breaker for
Individuals is a one arrow shoot off from 15 meters, with the closest
arrow to the center of the "X" being the winner.
2.
The second tie breaker is the 15 meter score for
the teams.
3. The third tie breaker for teams will be the 10th highest score.
4. The fourth tie breaker for teams will be the 11th highest
score. (opposite gender)
5. The fifth tie breaker will be the 12th highest score.
6. The sixth tie breaker for teams will be the 13th highest
score.
7. The seventh tie breaker for teams will be the 14th
highest score. (opposite gender)
8. The eight tie breaker for teams will be the 15th highest
score.
9. The ninth tie breaker for teams will be the 16th score.
10. The
tenth tie breaker for teams is a shoot off of 1 arrow at 15 meters. (The shooter will be selected by the team members),
with the arrow closest to the center of the "X" deciding the winning team.
12. (opposite gender), The
opposite gender score may be used, if higher than another score, at any
time. #3 and #6 only indicates that it must be used, if it was not
used earlier.
